Looking for something different to do with your summer? Want to get paid to launch rockets and build robots? If you are 18 or older and have a passion for science, engineering and education you could be the next counselor for the Virginia Space Flight Academy.

Day Counselor

Responsible for leading and implementing programs and experiences for campers in a group setting. Provides instruction to camp participants in model rocketry, robotics and other camp programs. Leads campers through field trips and activities and participates with them as required. Responsible for campers’ general well being and safety. Creates positive, fun and safe atmosphere for participants.

Night Counselor

Oversees and cares for campers after regular day time activities. Lives with the campers and is responsible for their general welfare. Leads campers through evening field trips and other activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with camp programs, youth education, working with children or a related field
  • Experience with rocketry, robotics, electronics, computer science or similar science and engineering fields
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and complete tasks with little or no direct supervision
  • Must be able to pass a NASA security background check
  • Upon hire, current CPR/First Aid training (we will provide training if necessary)
